RF generator prototype

A completed R&D prototype that brought firmware, PCB design, RF integration and laboratory validation into one engineering workflow.

Overview

This RF generator and RF-control prototype centered on an ESP32, SX1278, VCO and custom PCB. The work also included PCB antenna modeling and ESP32 firmware integration. This case covers the assembled prototype and its laboratory validation.

My role

I worked across requirements analysis, system and RF architecture, schematic design, PCB layout and routing, ESP32 firmware integration, and integration of the SX1278 and VCO. My responsibilities continued through antenna-related modeling, board bring-up, laboratory debugging and prototype validation.

Engineering process

The prototype progressed from requirements and architecture through schematic and PCB implementation to assembly, firmware and hardware integration, and laboratory bring-up. Iterative debugging examined RF behavior, digital control, firmware and hardware interaction, and board-level implementation.

Laboratory measurement equipment and iterative experiments supported validation. This account remains qualitative because the original measurement records have not been approved for publication.

Validation / current status

The prototype was designed, assembled, brought up and validated in the laboratory as an R&D prototype. The work reached a completed prototype-development and laboratory-validation stage.

Engineering scope

The case illustrates work across embedded firmware, schematic and PCB design, RF integration, antenna-related modeling, hardware bring-up and lab validation. A detailed electrical architecture or quantitative results would require approved original design and measurement evidence.
